The Basics of Poker

During each round of play, each player is dealt seven cards. The dealer will shuffle the cards and distribute them to the players one at a time. After each round, a betting interval occurs. During this period, the highest card wins.

The best hand in a poker game is a straight flush. In a straight flush, the cards must be of the same suit. However, the ace can be high or low, and a straight flush can be made from any combination of the five cards.

The best hand is also the most complex to come up with. It is not uncommon for players to take two or three of their cards and discard them to create a new hand. Although this is not the most practical method, it is the most elegant.
