Three Components of Love

True love is really hard to define, and even a definition you might read about that revolves around the idea that love encompasses all the people in your life won’t do it justice. Yet love itself is a powerful word to define. The word love doesn’t hold the same meaning for everyone. It can have very deep emotional affections for someone you know and love. Yet love itself isn’t always easy to define.

Love is one of those words that can mean different things for different people. On one end of the spectrum it can mean a passionate love for someone like Jesus or Allah. On the other end of the spectrum, you might have a passionate love for your brother, sister, or baby. And then there are the people that simply adore their mother in law or wife.

How can you describe love? Consider some examples from around the world. How would you describe physical affection in your life with another person? Would you call it lust, love, sexual attraction, attachment, devotion, or friendship? There are still people out there that aren’t sure what love is but they do know how to love someone.

These are just some examples of the different types of feelings and emotions that are involved when we are in a relationship. There are actually three components that make up this great relationship that is described above. The first three components are the interests, the likes, and the deep feelings you have for this person. Once you know what these three components are then you can start to identify what type of relationship you are trying to establish.

The next component is intimacy. This is probably one of the hardest components for many people to understand. In order for love to truly exist between two people it has to be one that involves intimacy. Intimacy may involve a romantic love affair, or even just being able to open up to another person and share intimate details with them. Some people shy away from intimacy because they think it means losing control or losing their minds. However, if you want to establish and maintain deep romantic love then you have to have intimacy.

Finally, the third component is attraction. People tend to think that attraction is only between two people, but this isn’t true. You can fall in love with someone based on looks or some other outside factors, but you can also fall in love with them because of their personality, intelligence, and attributes. Therefore, when you are trying to describe your love you have to include attraction as well. Attraction can come in the form of physical attraction, emotional attraction, or even just from watching the person in question.
