Why Do We Have To Experience True Love Before Getting Involved With Another Person?
The word love itself means “to feel” and it is used most often when relating to romantic relationships. Love is a deep and powerful bond or feeling. True love is an enduring and strong emotional bond between lovers or married couples who are in an emotionally satisfying and passionate relationship. An example of true love would be the intense and powerful emotion felt between a married couple who have been together for 40 years and who still deeply care and are passionate about each other. True love can be defined as that deep, unconditional emotion that makes two people want to be together forever.
In order to truly love another person one must be able to share the same kind of feelings. True love comes from being able to share both physical and emotional affection with another person. When sharing this type of affection, the more sensitive the person is the more meaningful it will be. A person who can only feel love for himself feels empty and lost because he or she is unable to share that same intense level of affection for another person.
True love, unlike self-love, requires that we truly be in love with ourselves first. Self-love is based on feeling superior to others. However, the self cannot love another person based on what that person has done or does not do. True love acknowledges that we all have bad habits and shortcomings and works to compliment these flaws. It also recognizes that while we have different background and experience our own personal problems, we all share common human experiences and desires.
Jesus Christ is the perfect example of self-love because he says in the gospels that he loved the woman because she was right with his Father. He said to her, “I do indeed love you,” before he left his birth place and went to the cross. The self should love itself first before considering someone else. We should then come to the Father first and love Him with all of our heart, soul and mind. That is spiritual love.
Another reason that we should experience love for ourselves is because love provides us with positive emotions. Positive emotions are necessary in order to create positive emotions when sharing our lives with another person. Love helps us avoid negative feelings that come with unloved conditions in our lives. Negative feelings such as jealousy, hatred, anger, resentment and envy are the result of a lack of love. Negative emotions produce negative actions and feelings.
Jesus Christ said that whoever would put his hand into the water will be blessed, and whoever will not be put into the water will not be blessed. If we could just boil down the words of Jesus Christ to boiled down into a sentence, we could say that this is what successful people are made of. A person who is successful has love in their heart. Jesus Christ said that if you want to be wise, humble and rich, feed the poor and homeless and the hungry and open up the homes to them.
